Verbal Beats

bio

Jay Borland, aka Jase, has spent the past 10 years of his prolific life learning to be an accomplished Human Beatboxer, DJ, Voice-Over Talent, and Audio Engineer.

To date, Jase has been participating in performances at several locations in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Miami and the New York areas. Jase's signature beatbox sound and DJ skills have popped up at guest appearances on the nationally broadcasted, Miami-based, Latin Television Show "The Roof", The Discovery Times Channel, as well as on the "Beatboxing: The Art of the Spoken Word" DVD released by Beatboxer Entertainment. Jay is a multi-talented entertainer with a unique blend of human sound effects, beatboxing, DJing, voice-over and acting talent, and has shared the stage with performers such as, KRS ONE, Doug E. Fresh, DJ Jazzy Jay, Kid Capri, Executioners, DJ Excess, Daddy Yankee, DJ Klever, The Wailers, Buddy Wakefield plus many more artists. He has built a successful DJ and beatboxing career and has been a member of AFTRA since 2000. Major corporations such as Dominos Pizza, SAE Institute, and Rainbow Media have recognized his voice-over talent. Jay's vocal percussion talent has been used in various forms for companies such as Motorola, Red Bull, SHURE Microphones, and NIKE. His talent and versatility can range from voices and sound effects to lyrical and a cappella singing.

In March of 2003 Jase found himself at the forefront of the creation of SAE Miami's DJ and Turntablist school "Turntable Essence". The 3-month program teaches a student everything from mixing and scratching to recording techniques with current expansion into the realm of production and programming. As an alumni who understands the difficulties of making it in the music business, and as a professional entertainer/performer with experience in the business, he was an asset to the program.

In 2004 Jase founded Verbal Beats LLC, the only company to create all vocal loop and samples for music programs. This continues to be his main focus, as he wants to bring beatboxing to the forefront of pop culture.
