Following her career as a writer for Motown, Dee Dee moved to Los Angeles and began her recording & performance career with the Watts Prophets. Her work with the Watts Prophets has given her the honor of being dubbed "The Mother of Rap on the West Coast". Dee Dee has since toured the globe and performed her vocal and poetic stylings in places such as Germany, France, Spain, New Zealand, Chile, Indonesia, Yugoslavia, and Austria. She also wrote and produced several musical plays, including "After Hours: Great Legends!
