Hi Guys,
Awesome program. I have loaded some 2 .wav files as a test. Both are simple drum loops. I wanted to trigger Wav1 from C2 to B2 and Wav2 from C3 to B3. I edited the LP note to C2 for and C3 for the other and limits are set to C2 / B2 and C3 / B3 respectively.

All keys are on the keyboard still seem to trigger the loop in line 1. The sound stops coming out after key B2 but I cannot seem to get the keyboard to trigger the wav file load on line 2.

Best,

Hey there DJ Smooth,

You didn't mention whether or not you wanted the loops to pitch up and down the keyboard, but I'm assuming that this is what you are after since you are assigning key ranges rather than specific keys.

So, with that in mind let's start from the beginning:

1. Load loop 1 into patch slot 1 by double-clicking the blank patch slot.
2. Load loop 2 into patch slot 2 by double-clicking the blank patch slot.
3. Click on the "Details" screen and make the "LP (loop note)" the center key for your keymap. So, for the key range of C3 to B3 your center note would be F2 (for loop 1) and F3 (for loop 2).
4. Now set your key ranges (L. Key) and (H. Key).
5. Finally set your MIDI channel to "1".

I think step 5 is the step you may be missing.

Now, for more fun try this:

Right-click on the Quick Edit knobs and select "Use default knob assignments for current patch". Now assign the knobs to MIDI controller parameters and have some real-time fun. ;)

Hey Guys,

Thanks very much. It was number 5 alright. On a separate note, which sample pack or two would you recommend for House music creation. There is quite a selection and I noticed you don't really use the House vernacular. The sample play goes pretty fast. I'm looking for some good drum, bass, and sythn type stuff to start.

Congratulations on a great tool. It really is pretty awesome once you get into it.

Thanks,
Glenn

Thanks again for the help and the recommendations. I just grabbed 4 of your suggestions. Now for a question. Is it obvious how to key shift a patch from D# to say A Minor? Is it done by ear or can you literally "tell" it what key to shift into?

Thanks guys!

Best,
Glenn

Hi Glenn,

Not a lot of people can tell which key is which just by listening, so we've done the work for you. Every patch in Satellite that has a distinct pitch, has a key tagged to it. If you click on the "Info" button at the top of the "Main" screen, you will see it in the lower right corner. This key setting is representative of the key that the loop was recorded in. To change this, simply click the "Details" button, down in the middle section of the "Main" screen. On the far right side you will see where to set the key you want your loop to play in. This eliminates all the guesswork.

Have a look at the attached screenshot.

We hope you enjoy the SoundBlocks Glenn. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
