Samplebase “Make Tracks” Contest Rules

  1. No purchase is necessary to win and as an entrant you have not yet won. Entries into the Make Tracks Contest must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. PDT on September 2, 2008 (the "Deadline"). The winners will be chosen on or about October 2, 2007, and will be notified by e-mail (or regular mail). The odds of winning depend upon the number of entries received.  Only web-based submissions will be accepted via the Samplebase online entry form found here: http://maketracks.samplebase.com
  1. Song submissions must be in MP3 format 44.1/196-256 kbps encoded.  The length of the song must not exceed 5 minutes and cannot be under 2 minutes long.  Each entrant is allowed to submit as many songs as they’d like, thus increasing their chances of winning.  Songs can either be composed entirely of Samplebase SoundBlocks, or with other sound sources so long as the songs that are submitted prominently feature Samplebase sounds.  Entrants may use Satellite (free) and the Ignition SoundBlock (also available for free) to produce their submitted tracks.
  1. Songs must be submitted via our online contest entry page, located at the following URL: http://maketracks.samplebase.com.  Entries will be accepted only after entrant has agreed to the Make Tracks contest rules. Entries will be judged on criteria established by contest officials. These criteria may include, among other things, the determined effective use of free or paid sounds available for download on the Samplebase website.
  1. Songs must be copyright clear and wholly owned by the entrant.  By entering, you aknowledge that you are the sole owner of each submitted track.  No jointly owned songs will be accepted.   All sounds and recordings used in each song submission must be licensed for use by entrant. The use of illicit samples or recordings in song submissions is strictly prohibited. Entrants give Samplebase permission to provide for download or perform their submitted songs digitally without expectations of compensation.
  1. *The following prizes will be awarded: One (1) Grand Prize Winner (entrant) will receive the entire catalog of SoundBlocks on the Samplebase website that are available on the date that the winner is chosen and first notified by email or phone. In addition, the winner will also receive a Novation ReMote37SL MIDI controller.  The prizes are nontransferable and no substitutions will be allowed. No further prizes will be awarded in the case that the winner already owns one or more of the Grand Prize items.

  2. Winners will be determined by a panel of judges for all valid entries received by the Deadline, and the decision of Samplebase contest officials shall be final. You may obtain the name of the winner by sending an email to: maketracks@samplebase.com. Samplebase reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this contest should bugs, Internet failure or other causes beyond its control corrupt the administration, security, or proper play of the contest.

  3. All entrants who complete the registration form and submit songs will be considered as participants.  All entrants must be registered on the Samplebase website and all information for each entrant must be current and legitimate.  Entrants must be at least 18 years of age. If a winner is a minor, the prize will be awarded in the name of winner's parent or legal guardian, who is solely responsible for all applicable federal, state and local taxes, and that winner must also provide a signed parental or guardian consent form, provided by the sponsor, within seven days of notification attempt. Failure of the minor to return the guardian consent form will result in the forfeiture of the prize and selection of an alternate winner, who will be chosen by the same panel of judges.

Return of any prize or prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected.By acceptance of the prize, the winner agrees to the use of their name and/or likeness for purposes of advertising, trade, or promotion without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. Winners are responsible for paying any income taxes on the value of the prize received.

  1. By entering the Make Tracks Contest, you (and, if you are a minor, your parents or legal guardians) release Samplebase, ILIO, Novation, Sound On Sound, and American Music and Sound and any of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agencies (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any liability whatsoever, and waive any and all causes of action, related to any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the Promotion or delivery, misdelivery, acceptance, possession, use of or inability to use any prize (including, without limitation, claims, costs, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation or portrayal in a false light, whether intentional or unintentional), whether under a theory of contract, tort (including negligence), warranty or other theory.

  2. This contest is open to all countries. Void where prohibited by law.

  3. Employees, officers, and directors of Samplebase, Novation, Sound On Sound, and American Music and Sound, the publisher of their subsidiaries and affiliated companies, and their immediate families and those living in their households, are not eligible.
  1. The sponsor of the Sweepstakes is Samplebase, PO Box 6211 Malibu, CA 90265 USA. Samplebase cannot be responsible for lost, late, misdirected, or incomplete entries, nor shall it be liable for unsuccessful efforts to notify a winner.
